How to download and unzip machine embroidery files
Find the order download, extract the ZIP and locate the machine file for your chosen size or part. Learn what is actually included in a design pack.
A Norea Designs purchase supplies digital machine embroidery files in a ZIP archive. It does not include a garment, stitched patch or physical shipping. Extract the archive before selecting a file to transfer to your machine.
Find the download after payment
After payment is confirmed, use the download button on the Thank you or Order status page. A download email is also sent. Shopify Digital Products sends automatically after successful payment; a declined attempt does not itself establish download access.
Keep the email and order access private. If the message is missing, check spam and the support information. Do not place another order just to retrieve the files. This guide does not promise lifetime access or unlimited downloads; read the applicable terms when buying.
What your design pack contains
The current catalogue has 41 prepared customer archives, one per product reference. You receive the selected design's pack, not all 41 catalogue packs. Each pack includes the sizes or complementary parts and formats listed for that product. On current product pages, selecting a size displays its measurements; it does not change the complete pack into a single-size purchase.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| LIRE-MOI.txt | Preparation notes and design references; the filename is retained in French. |
| CONTENU.json | Inventory of the pack's exports and associated files. |
| exports/ | Machine files with their original names and folders preserved. |
| Associated BMP, INF or EDR files, where included | Companion files kept with the corresponding export; their use depends on the format and software. |
Customer archives contain selected machine exports. Editable ART/EMB master files, source PDFs and source artwork are not included. Do not expect an editable digitizing project or a technical PDF in every ZIP. Check the actual inventory of your purchased design rather than another product's pack.
Extract the ZIP on Windows or Mac
- Save the ZIP to an identifiable folder and let the download finish.
- On Windows, right-click the archive and choose Extract All. On Mac, double-click it in Finder.
- Open the extracted folder and read LIRE-MOI.txt.
- Locate the design size or part and the extension required by your machine.
These extraction steps follow Microsoft's Windows instructions and Apple's Mac instructions. Browsing files inside a ZIP window is not the same as preparing an extracted folder for transfer.
Select an export and follow your machine's transfer instructions
Check the product's file formats and dimensions. A split format can require more than one file, and a complementary part is not an alternative size. Preserve companion files. USB media, folder location and software requirements depend on your model; this guide does not prescribe a universal transfer procedure.
A ZIP is an archive, not embroidery stitch data. Brother's XP3 troubleshooting instructions specifically require unzipping before transfer. A photo viewer may not open PES or JEF files. That alone does not establish that an embroidery file is defective.
If an archive or design will not open
Confirm that the download finished and the contents were extracted. Record the exact error, filename, format, size and machine or software model. When contacting support, include the order reference but not bank details or your personal download link.
Use the download help page and the format and dimensions overview before preparing your embroidery project.
